The Café at Whitegates is very much an attraction in its own right. A vibrant green oasis in which to relax, meet friends and soak up the lovely atmosphere. “The Orangery” has been added with more seating and beautiful surroundings to enjoy. Claire is one of the owners/directors and runs this popular side of the family business . She has skills gathered through a lifetime in various hospitality settings.
The hugely experienced and talented kitchen team take great pride in producing quality homemade food, using ingredients sourced from local suppliers
Great to visit at any time of the day, breakfasts include everything from simple scrambled eggs on toast to a full-on Gardener’s Breakfast for those with a hearty appetite.
A “specials board” lists the daily lunchtime dishes you can choose from. It might include a homemade steak & ale pie, mince & dumplings, a chicken parmo and on a Sunday renowned traditional Sunday roasts.
One of our two kitchens is dedicated to producing all of our wonderful sweet treats, homemade scones, delicious cakes, and opulent cheesecakes that are hard to resist!

The display of cakes, bakes, slices and desserts are a feast for your eyes beneath the shiny glass domes when you enter the café…the only problem is which one to choose!
Afternoon Teas are a specialty of this very popular café and are available to book and enjoy on weekday afternoons.
Bookings aren’t taken for tables in our busy café. Instead you are greeted with a smile as you arrive, and when a table becomes available, shown to your seats by a member of the team. Great service from the café team is an expectation.
In the afternoon you can meet up with friends and relax with a cup of tea and a slice of delicious cake.
